I wasn't sure if I would ever return to the rainbow circle again after last summers experience. I felt completely disillusioned by the last end of the last camp, and did not think I could be bothered to put any energy in again to something that felt so totally frustrating and negative. Even last years newsletter some of the letters seemed too angry and personal, that I decided that the rainbow circle wasnt an alternative community at all ,more like a regular housing estate, with the usual shenanigans you get anywhere in England.
Maybe its because I have come to understand that the rainbow circle means different things to different people and that for me it is not so much an alternative to he rest of society but a microcosmic version of the state of the human race. What I mean by that is, that over the years it changes and those changes seem to be a reflection of what is happening in the world at large .The one big difference being that the energy of the Rainbow circle seems to want us to see ourselves in truth unlike the present state of things in the larger picture, which would rather make entertainment of it. It has certainly woken me up to my own expectations of the R.C and of myself.
The summer just gone R.C seemed so much more relaxed. It seemed a little lacking in musicians and entertainment, and, luckily, drongos (maybe the drongos were the entertainment?) with the exception of the final cabaret at the last camp, which was full of laughs and music!
this year I shall be helping Benson Co-ordinate this years Beltane I am hoping we can manifest good camping conditions, a cooperative and fit crew who turn up at least three days early, and a warm, cosy, friendly family atmosphere that will enable us to chare and celebrate Beltane in a way we can all feel inspired by and loads of ...sorry haven't quite let go of the high expectations thing yet! Anyhow, so I hope to see you in the spring.
With lovinlight,
Michelle.
